The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) recently announced a $4.685 million project to dredge the main channel of White Creek and a short stretch of the Assawoman Canal northwest of Bethany Beach.  The DNREC project will remove approximately 70,000 cubic yards of sediment, which has built up over the years, to improve boating safety and navigation along the waterways. The sediment that is removed will be recycled and used to restore the salt marsh in the Assawoman Wildlife Area.

Work will begin in January 2023 and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2023.
